SHORT TRIP WITH THE KIDS

Salam semua,

Tension gila..Habis lama pun seminggu saja..
Kereta kami terhimpit dari semua arah. Saya duduk di seat belakang. Saya nampak lori pasir kat sebelah agak rapat tapi tak menghiraukannya. Tiba-tiba kami bertiga terkejut bila terdengar bunyi dentuman (tak kuat sangat) dan rasa kereta kami terangkat sedikit. Saya menjerit kepada Soffian," Pian, gerak ke kiri sikit, tayar lori tu sangkut kat kereta kita." Sara yang berada didepan terdiam. Kesian. Pucat muka dia masa tu.

Ini first time ikut kami shopping.
Sara sangat-sangat excited sebab dia memang minat habis kat Lisa Surihani. Dia buat apa saja untuk saya sebab saya setuju untuk pergi menonton..Kakak dia, Sophie buat dia marah pun, dia terima . Aneh budak ni.Tersengih sepanjang petang tu.

Sampai balik kehotel, semua dah letih sangat-sangat. Saya seperti selalu, kalau bawa budak-budak ni kemana saja, saya ikut separuh jalan saja, lepas tu saya akan biarkan dia orang jalan ke mana saja, saya akan cari tempat dan duduk sehingga depa datang cari saya bila dah selesai. Sekarang badan dah tak larat sangat. Saya cuma nak anak-anak have a good time.
Macam mana tu? Kalau semua pompuan okay la jugak. Jadi apa yang kami buat? Bila nak mandi saja, kami suruh Pian tunggu kat luar bilik. Padan muka dia. Selalu dia buli adik-adik dia.

Sampai kat R & R Rawang, kami berhenti sekejap makan pagi. Macam selalu, Pian. Dia tepuk-tepuk bantal tu, letak kat hujung tempat duduk belakang, pakai sun glasses dia dan tidor. Lega sikit saya bila dia tidor.

Kami sampai Kuala Kedah agak awal, dalam pukul 2 petang. Tapi feri pulak lambat, pukul 3.30 baru jalan. Nak buat macamana? Tunggu jugak la. Apapun, Alhamdulillah. Kami selamat sampai.
Seronok juga memandu bersama anak-anak ni. Bingit tapi menghiburkan.

Wassalam,

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hello all,

How's everybody doing? Doing great I hope. Same here.
I was in Kuala Lumpur again last week.Just got back home on Saturday. This time I was accompanied by Soffian and Sara. While there, we stayed at my sister's place for 3 nights. Sophie who had just finished her first term at the nearby college joined us 2 days later and squeezed into the hotel room with us.

Our hotel were paid for, courtesy from my sister, Mariam. She was always caring for me since I was in my teen. When we were young she would buy me clothes or took me along for a movie. That would usually angered my mom ( I was still a student back then) and she, my sister would always be there to protect me from mom's nagging. Thus, to this day I still look up to her even though I am nearing fifty.

We were there in K.L for my cancer treatment, an alternative treatment. It only took one day. But we stayed for five days so that Sophie could follow us back to Langkawi. This is when the fun started. We drove on our own. The roads and streets of this cosmopolitan city was just like varicose veins. We can never know which road leads to where. That made us dependable on GPS gadget. God bless whoever invented this gadget because we found most of our ways by holding and squinting our eyes to get to our destinations. Time is a luxury we have aplenty at hand. So we are good.

It usually takes about fourty minutes from my sister's place to the city, sometimes longer since we were not familiar with the roads. We met Sophie at her college just to say hello before going for my treatment. A friend of ours had been good enough to offer us his staff to drive us to that place. He was the one who recommended the place to me. It was far and away from the city that I was glad to take up our friend's offer of someone driving us there. Otherwise we would be driving on our own to God knows where.

We headed back to my sister's place at about seven something. It was already dark what with the pouring rain non-stop since five o'clock. The road were congested with people trying to get ahead fast to be home. I am and never will be a city person. The longest I can stay in the city was about a week. More than that I am all stressed out. We were sandwiched  from all directions. Nobody bothers to follow the lane. I was sitting at the back seat when I saw a construction lorry was inches away from our car. Soffian was driving. I thought he noticed it when suddenly we heard a slight bang and felt our car lifted a few feet from the ground. I called out to Soffian. " Move to your left, we are being dragged by the lorry" He looked panic and slowly swerved the car slightly to the left. We can't move too much as there was no space to move and we can't stop either as there was nowhere to stop. I don't know how the car was lifted but we managed to pull away from being drag further. We drove for a few more hundred yards before finally saw a gas station and pulled over to check the damage. Amazing! The car only suffer a slight dent to it's body and all three of us were in no way injured. That was close. Sigh...

The next day we left my sister's place and checked into the hotel. By now, Sophie was with us.Done with the check in, we went out again to do some shopping. I wasn't really into it since my cash was running low. Soffian, on the other hand was looking forward to do some shopping with us for the first time.He got a few items from Zara and was showing off to the girls. He might never knew how therapeutic shopping could be if he were not on this trip with us. He was enjoying every minute of it and he cleared out the little savings he had. I was mad and amused at the same time by his act of carelessness.
Whenever we went out for shopping or on a little trip anywhere, I would usually accompany them for a while, then I would find a seat nearby to rest. Let them explore or walk anywhere they want to go. I am easily tired nowadays. I am happy when the children were happy. Nowadays, whenever I feel like doing something or buy something for myself, I would do it without much thought. With my sickness, I wouldn't know how much time I have to make the most of it.

As for the girls and I, we got ourselves a dress one piece each for Friday night (the last night in K.L.) for a theater play. Sara was crazy over Lisa Surihani and since she had done well for her final exam and the 2 months school holiday had just started, I think why not. Make her happy. I know how it feels when one was in that age, singers and movie stars are the center of their lives. She (Sara) was in her element that evening. Nothing could go wrong. She was bubbly and humorous. She was loving me for getting her the tickets and she even put up with Sophie's mischief antics. Soffian was not joining us. Boys like him would find a play boring. Anyway he had other plan with his ex school mate who is studying there.

We got back to the hotel feeling exhausted. Lucky thing we had had an early dinner. I am glad the three of them were tired. I don't think I can put up with their pillow battles and jumping and rolling on the beds anymore. This hotel was not family friendly. It's a family room alright with beds for all of us but the bathroom. It's almost transparent! How can we the three girls take a shower or easing ourselves with Soffian around? The role reversed. Usually he was the one bullying his sisters. This time around, we made him wait outside the room every time we need to use the shower room. The room went quiet at about 10:30pm. Finally, a little peace.

Friday. Today was to be our last day here. We had enough of shopping and the horrible traffic. We decided a night earlier to laze around in the room and do nothing. We went out just to grab something to eat. Evening came and we got ready for the theater. Sara and Sophie were all dolled up and looked pretty in their dresses. Soffian couldn't be bothered with us. He slept throughout the girls excitement.
We don't want to get loss again on our way to the theater. We hailed a cab instead of driving. Arrived there fifteen minutes early. We were ushered to our seats. Sara was excited as can be that she would be watching her idol in real life acting as the wife of our former prime minister (Dr Mahathir Mohamed).
The play was alright in the beginning. It became slightly dragging towards the end. But overall, all those involved played their parts well. Bravo!

We set the alarm at 5am so that we would be out of the city before the rush hour begins. Soffian was supposed to drive. Since he went out with his friend and came back late, I wouldn't want to jeopardise any one of us with his driving. I drove. We stopped by at R & R for an early breakfast. Stomach filled with hot chocolate and the cool morning breeze is perking them up, they got charged up again. This time, they fight over a pillow I brought along from home. As usual, Soffian got his wish. He fluffed the pillow by the corner of back seat, put on his shades and snoozed. Okay.. I am glad he dozed off. At least now I can concentrate on my driving.

We arrived quite early at Kuala Kedah. About 2p.m. but had to wait for the boat scheduled to leave at 3.30pm. Another waiting but at least we arrived safely.
It was fun driving with the children but at times I needed to be alone and they know that.

Until next time. Have fun out there!
